About

Weronika Brzezicka is a multidisciplinary designer and storyteller based in Enschede, Netherlands. Working with a variety of techniques: textile design, illustration, graphic design and photography she explores the nature of the bond of humans with their surroundings, researching the interspecies relations and the processes of individual human beings. Weronika is motivated by the deep sense of connection to the forests of her hometown in Poland that she tirelessly explored for her whole life. In her works she brings forward the webs of entanglement present in the habitat, threading them through the human concepts of materiality and property. She is focused on nurturing communities and encouraging the profound bond between humans and their environment.
The name fragaria studio was inspired by the cottage of Weronika’s grandparents who live in a remote forest area in the East of Poland. Fragaria vesca is a latin name for a willd strawberry. The cottage has been named that because of the abudnance of the berries present all around the terrain. It was there that Weronika started discovering her deep connection to her environment.

Recently, Weronika has been busy with the interconnectedness of various species in the ecosystem and with the possibility of reintroducing human bodies back into the circularity of matter in the environment. Working with textiles and graphics she is currently researching the way to reconnect the body to the environment.
